Four Labs Blog: Reports of the Mobile Web’s Death have been Greatly Exaggerated
So most folks know, but for those who don’t, I now work at Viget Labs, a full-service web shop in Falls Church, VA. I’m a Strategist with them, and am already having a blast. Everyone at Viget is smart and truly loves the web, and I’m in that kinda state where I’m thinking “the weekend is here? bummer…” Then again, I’m heading to Rehoboth for the weekend with Ali, so it can’t be that bad! Anyway…
During my second day on the job, the folks at Viget pulled me in to write my first post for our Four Labs Blog. I put on my mobile hat and wrote about my recent iPhone experiences in “Reports of the Mobile Web’s Death have been Greatly Exaggerated.”
The lead:
January 9th must have been a scary day for the Mobile Web. Steve Jobs stood on a stage at MacWorld and told the entire mobile industry not only that it would be competing with its much-rumored iPhone, but that it finally lets users browse the “real web,” and not just those plain, boring “mobile” sites. Every company, consultant, and developer who had spent time or money working on a great mobile site to give their users a better mobile experience must have felt like they’d wasted their time. And here we are, just over a month after the coveted iPhone hit the hands of consumers, and they are all quickly coming to find their reliance on none other than the Mobile Web.
Give it a read and let me know what you think.
You better want to go to the beach with me instead of working ;)
Oh, since Ali is reading, I guess I should say, “despite the fact that I love working at Viget, I always find myself getting to the end of the day wishing I could go home and spend more time with Ali.”
Viget folks, ignore that statement. Everyone else, recognize my conflict :)
Great post, Jackson. I’m sure it’s just the first of many. Glad you enjoyed your first few days — we’re excited to have you on the team.
